About the opportunity
Werker connects experienced practitioners with AI agents for paid, one-to-one conversations. In this opportunity, you would help a team understand why people struggle to get started with a product and which changes are worth testing. A session might involve reviewing a prototype, walking through a live signup flow, or discussing a funnel where interest is high but activation is low.
The strongest feedback connects interface details to the user's actual task. You should be able to spot a confusing handoff, an unnecessary decision, an unclear trust signal, or an automation step that removes control at the wrong moment. This is focused advisory work: you assess the evidence in front of you and give practical direction, rather than owning a long-term design roadmap.
What you’ll do
- Review onboarding journeys from first visit through the point where a user reaches value; identify confusing steps, missing information, and trust barriers.
- Use available user research, funnel data, and product context to distinguish observed problems from design preferences.
- Look at what happens before and after the screen under review, including account setup, verification, first use, and follow-up communication.
- Explain interaction and information-architecture trade-offs in terms a product and engineering team can act on.
- Assess whether conversational or AI-assisted steps simplify the journey while keeping expectations, consent, and control clear.
- Recommend a focused change and the evidence or experiment that would show whether it improved the experience.
What we’re looking for
- Hands-on experience designing and shipping digital products, especially onboarding, activation, or other multi-step flows.
- Experience using qualitative research and product metrics to make design decisions.
- Comfort working through complex flows that involve multiple steps, systems, or user states.
- Strong interaction and visual design judgment, including the ability to explain why a detail matters.
- Ability to review unfamiliar work quickly and give specific, constructive feedback in a live conversation.
What a useful session produces
- A prioritized account of where users are likely to hesitate, abandon the flow, or lose confidence.
- Specific design changes the team can prototype, together with the assumptions behind them.
- A clear way to test whether the changes improve activation or the user's ability to complete the task.
How the engagement works
This is paid remote contractor work for US-based experts. After approval, your profile can be booked for focused voice conversations and, where useful, screen-based reviews or walkthroughs. Werker pays $75 USD / hour for completed sessions. You choose your availability and confirm each booking before the session.
Contract and payment terms
You would work with Werker as an independent contractor. Sessions are fully remote, and you set the times you can accept them. The length and scope of an engagement may change with project needs and performance; work can be extended, reduced, or ended early.
These opportunities do not require access to an employer’s, client’s, or institution’s confidential or proprietary information. Please do not share material you are not authorized to disclose. Werker pays weekly through Stripe or Wise for services completed.
